Cosplay Runway at MJX April 2018

Published

on

Cosplay is a shortened form of two words – costume and play.

It’s the art or practice of wearing costumes to portray characters from fiction, especially from movies, manga, comic books, animations, and science fiction stories across several mediums.  People who cosplay are known as ‘cosplayers’.

What is “Cosplay Runway”?

Cosplay Runway is the Second Event Category at April’s Movie Jabber Expo (MJX) where artisans will showcase their creativity and craftsmanship that went into making select superhero costumes. These costumes, made before the event within given timelines, will then be worn and paraded by models at MJX on a catwalk runway for Judges to evaluate and award the most authentic looking outfit and its creator(s) with the ultimate cash prize of Kshs. 45,000.

Kshs. 45,000 (First Place)
Kshs. 25,000 (Second Place)
Kshs. 18,000 (Third Place)

IMPORTANT: Please note that “Cosplay Runway” is a separate and more advanced cosplay competition category.  Casual cosplayers are encouraged to take part in the less complex “CosComKE Tournament” which will also happen at MJX April 2018.

Who Can Participate?

Anyone whose trade involves creating items with their hands, and is skilled in manipulating any and various types of fabric, materials, props, accessories etc.  You do not need to have prior experience in making costumes, as long as you are skilled with your hands, willing to be bold and try something new, you are completely welcome to take part.

How you approach the process is totally up to you. You may be a one-man-team OR you may decide to form a team of different people with different skill-sets, that doesn’t matter.  As long as every guideline in the Cosplay Runway Rule Book is followed every step of the way, you will be safe.

How do I Submit?
