Horizon Forbidden West is now Available For Free on PlayStation

Sony swung for the fences in this month’s PlayStation + mid-month catalog updates by featuring one of their biggest exclusives from last year. Horizon Forbidden West was included among the selection of several games added to Sony’s gaming subscription for both PS5 and PS4. The game is however only accessible for users on the PS+ Extra and Premium tiers, so if you’re on the standard tier, this game is unfortunately unavailable to you.

Forbidden West is the direct sequel to 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn. The game joins the PS+ catalog a mere year after its release on February 18^th 2022. This coincides with the release of the PS5’s VR2 release of Horizon Call of the Mountain, which is a spin-off of sorts set within the world of Horizon.

In case you’re new to the franchise, Horizon is set in a post-apocalyptic future where the remaining humans exist in native tribes in a world overrun by machines. The story follows Aloy, a young woman born into the Nora tribe who sets out to find the truth about her origins and in the process uncovers the truth behind how the world was lost to the machines.

Forbidden West continues Aloy’s story six months after the events of the first game. She travels west to the frontier to find the source of a plague that threatens the land. On this journey the player encounters a sprawling open world full of all sorts of new challenges.

Forbidden West isn’t the only heavy hitter joining the subscription platform, however. This month players also get two iconic horror games for free as well; Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and The Quarry.
