“Comics to Cosplay” Event Category
We believe strongly that there is no greater expression of fandom than the art of cosplay, and as such, Comixplosion 2020 will set the stage for our first cosplay experience of the year.
Cosplay to Comics will have only a few pre-registered cosplayers take part in individual presentations that consist of the following stages:
- Character choice: Explanation of why they chose that character. Backed up with images of that character from the source material they worked with (TV show version, movie version, comic book version, game version).
- Creation process: A behind the scenes look at their costume creation process. Backed up by pictures of the different stages of the creation process (material shopping, build process, gluing etc).
- Q&A segment: interaction with the fans.
- Photo session: with our event photographer.
What can you Cosplay?
The bedrock of Comixplosion is comic books, we want see cosplays from comic books, hence the name. We should also point out that comic books are not just about superheroes nor do they just revolve around DC or Marvel comics!
Comic books have characters from various genres: superhero, science fiction, love, romance, horror etc If you dig around, you will be spoilt for choice as well as come across really interesting characters and various publishing houses.
So do your research and feel free to cosplay whatever character you want to cosplay as, as long as you follow the FIVE important guidelines below:
- Your character must be from a comic book. From any specific issue or run.
- Your cosplay can also be a version of a comic book character, based on their look in any of the following adaptations: TV show, movie, video/mobile/PC game. Please be diligent in your research.
- NO anime or manga cosplays please. Only mainstream comic books, since the two worlds are not the same.
- DO NOT cosplay any fan-made character or character look. Your character’s look must be canon. So please be diligent in your research.
- You can cosplay both local and international comic book characters.
