Trailer Watch: Monday 10th December, 2012

Our feature trailer to start the week off is one that we accidentally stumbled upon in the spirit of randomness 😉 Turns out it wasn’t a bad find after all! Ladies and gentlemen O Grand Kilapy

The Great Kilapy (when translated into English) premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival and if the trailer didn’t relay much to you, here’s a brief rundown of the plot:

“Set in the mid-1970s, on the eve of Angola’s independence from Portugual, O Grande Kilapy aka The Great Kilapy (or more literally, The Big Swindle) tells the story of Joao Fraga (Lazaro Ramos), a suave man-about-town and serial womaniser who slips into a life of crime in order to bankroll his affluent lifestyle. Fraga pulls off a massive con at the expense of the Portuguese government that not only sets the administration on him, but makes him something of a folk hero amongst the Angolan people.” – TwitchFilm

Without reading the plot, and just from the trailer alone, you cant tell much about the story other than the promised aesthetic value and what looks like solid acting. Elements of a mix of Shaft and James Bond do carry across too if we might add 🙂

Oblivion

Oblivion does NOT look like your usual generic sci-fi action/survival flick. Far from it. The pacing of the trailer, further laced with specifically well-timed scenes, dialogue that promise suspense and mystery, acts as evidence of what to expect. Then again, trailers for the same movie are packaged differently at times so we just may get to see when with hints of impressive action set pieces 😉 Oh yes, did we mention Morgan Freeman is in it? MORGAN FREEMAN IS IN IT! There we go.
