Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, AND…

CLOUD ATLAS

The Wachowski brothers (The Matrix Trilogy) are hard at work on a movie with a very interesting concept and seems to be a mash-up of several film genres.  Here’s the official synopsis:

“A reluctant voyager crossing the Pacific in 1850; a disinherited composer blagging a precarious livelihood in between-the-wars Belgium; a high-minded journalist in Governor Reagan’s California; a vanity publisher fleeing his gangland creditors; a genetically modified “dinery server” on death-row; and Zachry, a young Pacific Islander witnessing the nightfall of science and civilisation — the narrators of Cloud Atlas hear each other’s echoes down the corridor of history, and their destinies are changed in ways great and small.  In his captivating third novel, David Mitchell erases the boundaries of language, genre and time to offer a meditation on humanity’s dangerous will to power, and where it may lead us.” – Collider

In short; It’s the story of different characters who reappear in different eras, played by the same actors. The cast packs quite a punch too! Here’s some name-dropping of those involved: Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Ben Whishaw, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant, Hugo Weaving, James D’Arcy, Jim Sturgess, and Susan Sarandon… wow! 😉

Looking forward to this cause of the siblings behind it, the cast and the quite ambitious storyline. Let’s hope that the very same ambition doesn’t do this movie in when it debuts October 26th, 2012.

LIFE OF PI

Earlier this week we gave you a heads up on this flick with the promise that it may be quite the visual treat 😉 Well we do have our first look at its trailer and yes it’s impressive (apart from the fact that it offers a story that may tug at your heart-strings and prod your mind), have a look:
