Taken 2 Trailer, Dexter Season 7 AND…

I am a huge fan of Liam Neeson, anything he’s in (big budget or independent) turns to gold, just two examples; The Grey and Taken…  Now, Taken was a surprise run-away hit which i believe started the trend of Liam Neeson appearing in small budget action flicks and making a lot of money for all those involved.  Fans really don’t mind watching them as long as Liam is there.  That’s truth.  But in cases where unnecessary sequels are spawned or pushed, i tend to become very hesitant… Taken 2 is one such unnecessary sequel in my humble opinion.  The first movie was good enough and solid, no need to risk ruining good memories by producing a sequel.  What’s the story in this one? Well, the first time it was his daughter, now it’s the wife being kidnapped by the families of the baddies he killed in the first one.  Great, let’s have different family members involved shall we, we’ll never run short of sequels, prequels, spin-offs at this rate.  Enough, here’s the trailer

My sentiments?  To quote Matt Goldberg of Collider.com: “…I’m assuming the franchise can continue if future kidnapping victims include Mills’ cousin, gardener, paperboy, the guy he met at the supermarket that one time, and so forth.  Finally, Taken 2 looks to continue the series’ message that foreign countries are the worst places affluent white people can go.”

#The Prototype

Act of Valor was well received, the well executed style of delivery and engaging story did well to give the production company, the Bandito Brothers,  behind the movie some much needed steam.  their latest piece of work looks pretty interesting.  The Prototype is your usual sci-fi offering if you look at the story: advanced next level of super-soldiers, a humanoid/half-human half machine, goes rogue and the people behind his creation have no choice (duh!) but to go after him at all costs, getting their best squad on the task.  Trailer…

I like the trailer, the look and feel of the movie and the suit used on the prototype.  The whole production doesn’t look to be too high maintenance to have that glossy polished look where you just know the story will be secondary to the effects.  Here’s to hoping that the Bandito Brothers pull this one off… 😉

Dexter: Season 7

Our favorite serial killer won’t be back onscreen till late this year, Season 6 finale was, well the most epic finale of all the series finale Dexter’s run has had to offer.  Big earth shattering events, or simply put, ONE major earth shattering event happened.  it’s really painful and difficult wriing this without giving anything away, but, if you’ve watched season 6 till the end, you’re in the loop, IF NOT you may not want to watch the teaser for the upcoming Season 7.  You’ve been warned… 😉
