Spartacus may have come to an end, yes complete end, but the network behind the gritty, brutal and adult-centered hit TV show do believe that there is still more room for such content. This time round, instead of sand, battle arenas and battles, we have grimy sailors, pirates, the open blue sea and wooden vast ships. Behold, Black Sails…
Courtesy of Screenrant, here’s the official show summary from Starz: “The eight-episode first season of the pirate adventure centers on the tales of Captain Flint and his men, and takes place twenty years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Treasure Island. Toby Stephens (Die Another Day) stars as Flint, the most brilliant and most feared pirate captain of his day, takes on a fast-talking young addition to his crew who goes by the name John Silver. Threatened with extinction on all sides, they fight for the survival of New Providence Island, the most notorious criminal haven of its day – a debauched paradise teeming with pirates, prostitutes, thieves and fortune seekers, a place defined by both its enlightened ideals and its stunning brutality.”
This show premieres next year, no set date as of yet although you should note it’s officially Michael Bay’s first time anywhere near a TV show in official capacity. No he isnt directing, but he is the Executive Producer…

ARROW | Naked Muscle, Images and Official Plot
The world of comic books and superheroes is proving to be a success (when done right) onscreen; whether the big screen or small screen. The Dark Knight Trilogy and The Avengers prove that the world is for the taken when such material is done well, and on the small screen the 10 year run of Smallville stands head and shoulders above many. Could Arrow be heading down that route perhaps…?
The first successful season of DC Comic’s TV interpretation of the Emerald Archer left no doubt that there would be a season 2, and that season is almost upon us in two weeks, October 9th to be exact. It will be interesting to see what path the series takes in season two, with certain quarters complaining about the toned down story and cliches, but all that seem to be sidelined at the moment as we get awed and teased by promo images, speaking of which… naked men anyone? Ladies?
Yes, less clothes does alot for marketing doesn’t it 😉 Here’s the series official season 2 synopsis:
Plot: “FROM VIGILANTE TO HERO — Diggle (David Ramsey) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) travel to Lian Yu in search of Oliver (Stephen Amell) who left Starling City after The Undertaking. Convinced to return home, Oliver finds that things are in worse shape than he thought – Isabel Rochev (guest star Summer Glau) is preparing a hostile takeover of Queen Consolidated, Thea (Willa Holland) refuses to visit Moira (Susanna Thompson) in jail, Roy (Colton Haynes) is trying to fill the void left by the Arrow’s absence, and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is working with the District Attorney’s office to take down the vigilante. Meanwhile, flashbacks to the island show Slade (Manu Bennett), Shado (guest star Celina Jade) and Oliver in a desperate situation.” via Screenrant
