Recommended Watch This Weekend…

Alright, the week is finally at an end! Cheers to all who toiled through the joy that is Monday and the days after upto Thursday ๐Ÿ˜‰ If you’re reading this, you probably stumbled upon the beacon we buried in the sand on that deserted island you’re on, don’t worry there’s a ship passing by to pick you up and give you the best time ever. That ships is known as the Weekend… ๐Ÿ˜‰

As you enjoy the weekend, here are our two recommended movie and series that you need to watch:

Looper (Movie)

In the year 2044 time travel has not yet been invented. But in 30 years it will have been. In Rian Johnson‘s highly anticipated futuristic action thriller, Joe (Gordon-Levitt) works as a looper, an assassin who eliminates targets sent back in time by a criminal organisation. The only rule is never to let your target escape โ€“ even if that target is you.Joblo

Hold up a second, this isn’t that typical messy, tech-crammed sci-fi flick. Infact, there are no floating cars, fancy suits or weaponry. You’d be forgiven for thinking it was set in this day and age. The strength of the film is in its simplicity, yet strong story with equally good acting from the two main leads who play the same character; Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis. NOT forgetting one of the main child actors.ย  Here’s the trailer:

What can we say about the usual play of the villain of the story versus the good guy(s)? Let’s just say your emotions, and your ability to make moral choices will be played around and twisted in this one. We give the film a strong 8/10.

Last Resort (Series)

Last Resort is set in the near future about a US military submarine that goes against orders and refuses to fire its nuclear missiles. As a result the crew escapes and takes refuge at a NATO outpost where they set up a society becoming the smallest nuclear state in the world.TV.com

Fine, it got cancelled because it was too much ‘brain food’ for the network audience to handle, but behold the following two ‘buts’ supporting why you should watch it if you are yet to:

  1. It got cancelled yes, BUT the ongoing season 1 will run its full course of 13 episodes.
  2. It may be brainy, BUT not too brainy. It has well balanced pacing, believable tension at just the right amount. The cast is superb.ย  The only harm i foresaw with this one from the start was that, given the time, it may have have ended up too convulated. But i guess i will never be proven right or wrongย  ๐Ÿ˜‰

We give it a strong 8/10.
