#Nairobi Half Life

That’s the name of a local movie trailer i came across.  Not bad so far from what i have seen.  The trailer looks well packaged, not enough to really get a feel on the quality of acting sets because well, you ca never really trust trailers 😉 Hopefully this movie doesn’t turn out to be a drag when fully fleshed out i.e. when the whole thing is watched.  That aside, good work, love the cinematography and i am sure a lot of local movie enthusiasts will be interested. Here’s the trailer:

Luck or the lack of it brings him face to face with the city’s criminals and forms a friendship with a small time crook who takes him in. He is quickly drawn into a world of crime as he struggles to pursue his dream of becoming an actor.
Keeping the two worlds separate proves to be a challenge for him as he trudges on in this unknown world called Nairobi.

#Judge Dredd

Who remembers the 1995 Sylvester Stallone Judge Dredd movie?? Horrible or perfect? 😉 Moving on, i liked it back then, but i was a kid… The reboot, coming out this year starring Karl Urban is titled Dredd.  Simple and plain.  Let’s hope it’s simple and plain in STICKING to the source material 😉

If you’ve been unaware of the reboot in the works… *gasp!* where have you been? Here are pretty cool new images from the production…

Synopsis: “The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture – a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute-turned-drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.” – Screenrant

# Guillermo del Toros PACIFIC RIM

If you loved Hellboy 1&2, Pan’s Labyrinth then you most definitely know the the mind behind those beautiful adaptations, Guillermo del Toro…

Well, the last time he directed anything, was way back, that film being  Hellboy 2: The Golden Army.  Good news is, there’s something in the works, and it involves monsters, machines, destruction, action, enthralling visuals… pure classic Guillermo.  The projct, to be released next year, stars Idris Elba…

Synopsis: “From acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ epic sci-fi actionadventure “Pacific Rim.”When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end.  To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge.  But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju.  On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past.  Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Oscar® nominee Guillermo del Toro (“Pan’s Labyrinth”) is directing “Pacific Rim” from a script by Travis Beacham (“Clash of the Titans”).  Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Mary Parent are producing, with Callum Greene serving as executive producer. The film stars Charlie Hunnam (TV’s “Sons of Anarchy”), Idris Elba (“Thor”), Rinko Kikuchi (“The Brothers Bloom”), Charlie Day (“Horrible Bosses”), and Ron Perlman (the “Hellboy” films).  The ensemble cast also includes Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke.

Del Toro’s behind-the-scenes team includes Academy Award®-winning director of photography Guillermo Navarro, production designer Andrew Neskoromny, editor Peter Amundson, and costume designer Kate Hawley.

Slated for release in Summer 2013, “Pacific Rim” is a presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.  The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.”

Guillermo del Toro, Idris Elba, monsters+special effects and Warner Brothers??? Sounds like a soon to be awesome cinematic venture 😉
