KENYA BOX OFFICE | How Did Fantastic Four Perform?

Internationally Fantastic Four is currently the worst received and reviewed superhero film in history.  In the beginning there was some excitement and high level of expectation when Josh Trank (Chronicles) was handed the reins in what would be his first big studio, high level release, a dream come true after just one very successful release.   And then somehow, things just went wrong… If you have been unaware of the backlash, and finger pointing, rumors, accusations etc coming out of the woodwork in the wake of the film’s less-than-terrible performance, then you can go HERE.

But did the global negative buzz affect the film’s Kenyan opening? Fantastic Four opened in the States on August 7, and here in Kenya, East and West Africa as a whole a week later, August 14.  The film opened at the #2 spot, with the #1 spot being firmly clinched by the well reviewed Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.  Figures below:

Opening this Weekend:

Warner Brother’s The Man from U.N.C.LE opened last weekend in the States to generally positive reviews.  Directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Henry Cavill and Armie hammer as American and Russian spies respectively forced to work together to stop a nefarious criminal organization from using nuclear weapons to against the world.  The film opens this Friday in standard cinemas and IMAX Kenya.
